Dr Davina von Hagt is a specialist general surgeon with advanced fellowship training in breast surgery. Born in London, she completed her medical degree at the University of Nottingham before undertaking further postgraduate study in medical education, earning a Master’s in Clinical Education from the University of Edinburgh.

Dr von Hagt moved to Western Australia to undertake her general surgical training and completed her specialist qualifications in 2023. She then completed dedicated breast surgery fellowship training at two of Australia’s leading tertiary hospitals, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Women’s Hospital, gaining extensive experience in the contemporary management of breast disease. Her training included benign breast conditions, breast cancer surgery, multidisciplinary cancer care and patient focused surgical decision making.

In addition to her breast surgery practice, Dr von Hagt provides a broad range of general surgical services, including endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures, breast cancer surgery and breast reconstruction.

Dr von Hagt now lives in Albany with her husband, their three children and their dog, and is delighted to call Albany home. Outside medicine, she enjoys listening to classical music, although these days her soundtrack is more likely to involve nursery rhymes, children’s activities and family life. Her decision to make Albany home reflects both a professional commitment to regional surgical care and a personal appreciation for the community, lifestyle and natural beauty of the Great Southern.

Dr von Hagt consults through Great Southern Specialist Centre and operates privately at Albany Day Hospital.

As the first female resident general surgeon providing services through Great Southern Specialist Centre, Dr von Hagt further strengthens access to specialist surgical care within the Great Southern. She is committed to delivering high quality, evidence based and compassionate care, with a strong focus on clear communication, patient dignity and supporting patients through what can often be a stressful and uncertain time.
